Conferència "Il·luminar i pensar" a càrrec de Xavier Monteys

La Delegació Garrotxa-Ripollès del COAC participa a 'Lluèrnia. Festival del foc i de la llum' amb la conferència Il·luminar i pensar, a càrrec de l'arquitecte Xavier Monteys, que tindrà lloc el dijous 8 de novembre, a les 19.30 h, al Casino Olotí.
La conferència es basarà en una petita col·lecció d’exemples d’il·luminacions en l’entorn quotidià, que permeten fer algunes observacions sobre el paper de la llum a l’espai públic. Entre els exemples, hi ha llums que puntuen discontínuament l’espai, que el dilaten, i que mostren una altra funció més enllà de la purament homogènia i funcional. Llums dictades pel sentit pràctic i la necessitat i que il·luminen l’acció i no pas l’espai. Llums que ajuden a travar la casa amb la ciutat, recordant-nos que la ciutat necessita ser mirada des de les finestres. I llums que «escriuen» cap al capvespre o a la nit i que llegim i ens fan pensar.
Xavier Monteys (Barcelona, 1953) és catedràtic de Projectes arquitectònics a l’Escola Tècnica Superior d’Arquitectura de Barcelona (ETSAB). És l’investigador principal del grup de recerca «Habitar». Col·labora també en un curs de projectes a la Universitat de Girona i al màster «Aula de renovación urbana» a la Universitat de Santiago de Compostel·la.

Miàs Arquitectes wins the tender to renovate Passeig de la Indústria and Plaça de l’Ajuntament in Banyoles

Miàs Arquitectes, run by architect Josep Miàs, will be responsible for designing the renovation of Passeig de la Indústria and the Plaça de l’Ajuntament in Banyoles. The proposal presented by the Banyoles-based team of architects won the tender put out by the Town Council and envisages a more pedestrianised street to improve the connection with the town's Old Quarter.
Banyoles Town Council put out a competitive tender for ideas last April in collaboration with the Girona branch of the Architects’ Association. Of the 32 proposals submitted, the jury selected five projects and finally chose the one presented by Miàs Arquitectes, which had already undertaken the renovation of the Old Quarter.
Now that the winning proposal has been chosen, the practice will have a few months to define the final project. The plan is for the work to be undertaken in stages. The first part of the renovation will be the Plaça de l’Ajuntament and the first section of Carrer Pere Alsius, as far as the Municipal Theatre. It is envisaged that the project, which has a budget of 375,000 euros, will get under way in early 2019.
Public exhibition
With the aim of getting local residents involved, the Town Council has organised an exhibition in the Town Hall's plenary room to showcase the proposals submitted for the tender. The exhibition opens at 8 pm, on Thursday, 18 October, with a public ceremony involving the team that won the tender and representatives of the Girona branch of the Architects’ Association of Catalonia.

Water heritage: the key theme of the 41st AADIPA Heritage Course

On 13 December, the 41st International Course on Interventions in Architectural Heritage begins, organised by the Association of Architects for the Defence and Intervention of Architectural Heritage (AADIPA) of the Architects’ Association of Catalonia.
This year, the theme of the seminars, which take place from 13 to 16 December in the COAC’s Auditorium, is 'Camins d'aigua: restauració i ús del patrimoni hidràulic' (Waterways: the restoration and use of our water heritage).
The inaugural address will be given by president of the AADIPA, Antoni Vilanova; Jaume Busquets and Maria Llinàs, the co-directors of the 41st course; and Assumpció Puig, dean of the COAC.
At this year’s course, the objective will be to take a closer look at one of the most overlooked elements of our industrial heritage: water heritage, which, paradoxically, represents one of the essential cornerstones of the world’s cultures and civilisations. The course will reflect on its heritage value (in every aspect—artistic, ethnographic, landscaping, social, etc.) and its different scales (regional, urban, in buildings and small auxiliary features), about how they should be protected, how we should define their essential features, how their materials are performing and, above all, how we can restore, preserve and adapt them to new uses, if necessary. Basically, everything that would relate to any other type of heritage.
In view of the fact that the projects presented at the course have very different dimensions and timelines, they will be grouped into five themed blocks according to their predominant use: Supply, Agriculture, Recreation, Transport and Energy.
To achieve this objective, the course will be attended by experts from different professional fields related to the theme who will share their experiences.

Visita a l'Alt Empordà i al Gironès

L'Agrupació d'Arquitectes per a la Defensa i la Intervenció en el Patrimoni Arquitectònic (AADIPA) ha programat una visita a l'Alt Empordà i al Gironès, que tindrà lloc el dissabte 10 de novembre. La jornada ha estat organitzada per Jaume Busquets i Maria Llinàs, codirectors del XLIè Curset de l'AADIPA.
Es tracta, ja, de la setena trobada del cicle de visites que hem realitzat en tot el territori en relació amb el Curset d’enguany.
Us proposem una visita a Girona, Salt i Castelló d'Empúries. A Castelló d'Empúries visitarem l'antic molí fariner (el Molí del Mig), que va ser transformat en farinera a finals del s.XIX. Fou adquirit per l'Ajuntament i reconvertit com a Ecomuseu- Farinera. També visitarem el safareig públic (s.XIX), el qual s’omple també amb l’aigua del rec.
El cost de la visita és de 22€ per als membres de l’AADIPA i de 26€ per a la resta d’assistents. visita està oberta a tots els membres de l’AADIPA, als arquitectes col·legiats i interessats en el tema.

Al Gironès hi ha el Rec Monar (s.XI), una sèquia que deriva d'aigua del Ter per la riba dreta, i recorre pels termes de Bescanó, Salt i Girona. La sèquia rega les hortes de Salt i Girona (Hortes de Sta. Eugènia) i desguassa a l'Onyar, al centre de la ciutat. Dins aquest context, a Girona visitarem les Hortes de Sta. Eugènia, i a Salt visitarem part del recorregut del rec dins la vila i la fàbrica Coma Cros.
