Library
The Library of the Architects’ Association of Catalonia has a long and distinguished history and is currently the second largest in Europe in terms of the number of volumes it houses. Its five facilities house more than 180,000 references, a number that speaks volumes for the heritage that our members have at their disposal. This wealth of documents has made the library an essential point of reference on architecture. It also provides a service that is constantly evolving to adapt to the current needs of architects.
One of the Library’s main objectives is to provide architects with the necessary tools to give them all the information they need to practice their profession from the broadest of perspectives, encompassing a vision of the contemporary world enhanced by the historical documentation that connects us with the past.
The Library takes particular care in completing any bibliographic gaps in its collections, following an acquisition policy that not only seeks to provide a repository of our heritage but also enriches it with the latest contributions on modern architecture. It has thus managed to integrate, in a single corpus, information on the most ancient and the most modern of architectural creations. The COAC Library has been designed as a single entity that operates regionally through the Association’s different offices.

At present, each of the Association’s branches has a facility for consulting both the volumes housed at each one and the general collection common to all of them. Interaction between the offices is essential for users to be able to obtain the information they need without any difficulty.
