Picasso Room. Barcelona
The Picasso Room is located on the first floor of the Plaça Nova building and also serves as the foyer for the Auditorium. It is accessed from the main lobby by staircase and also has an elevator for people with reduced mobility.
The most iconic ornamental feature of this room, which gives it its name, is the set of two friezes known as ‘The Mediterranean’—which are the inner faces of the friezes running along the sides of the exterior façade of the building, created in 1962 by Norwegian artist Carl Nesjar based on a design by Picasso. The two friezes are further enhanced by special lighting effects.
The space is accessed from the main lobby by a staircase and there are also elevators for people with reduced mobility. It covers an area of 227 m2 and has windows running around the perimeter at ceiling level to allow natural light into the room if required.
Location: Barcelona
Main uses: The unique décor and location of the Picasso Room makes it ideal for holding exhibitions, conferences and dinners and it can also be used as a foyer for the Auditorium for the usual purposes of this kind of space, such as registration desks, stands exhibiting products of sponsoring companies, cocktail parties, etc.
