SÍ SE PUEDE. Siete días en PAH Barcelona és un documental que explica el dia a dia de la Plataforma d'Afectats per la Hipoteca de Barcelona en el que podria ser una setmana qualsevol en la seva incansable activitat. Des del concret i la quotidianitat, el documental pretén explicar la complexitat i diversitat d'un moviment que s'ha estès per tot l'estat i que ha suposat un veritable desafiament de la societat civil a les polítiques del govern ia les entitats financeres després del desastre econòmic i humà que va suposar l'esclat de la bombolla immobiliària.
Set entrevistes (combinades amb imatges recopilades durant més d'un any) condueixen l'espectador per les diferents activitats setmanals que es realitzen a PAH Barcelona, il·lustrades amb casos concrets i petites anècdotes del dia a dia. Des de les Assemblees de Benvinguda, Coordinació i estatal, fins al Grup d'Ajuda Mútua, la Campanya d'Obra Social o la Interlocució i les accions en els bancs, aquest documental ha situat les càmeres a les entranyes de l'organització per visibilitzar l'enorme treball invisible que hi ha darrere de la PAH i el procés de transformació i empoderament de les persones que el componen.
Després de la projecció comptarem amb Pau Faus i Silvia González Laá, director i co-guionista del documental.

On November 19 Japanese architect Kengo Kuma will be giving his lecture “After 3/11”. The architect will talk about how he minimizes architecture, especially since the 2011 natural disaster, in order to help the world transit toward small things.

“Minimize”- The World is Moving Toward Small Things
It was always a natural disaster that directed the course of our civilizations, but the great disaster of 3.11 differed from any other catastrophes since the 1755 Lisbon Earthquake. Nature was desperately forceful as never before. However “strong” or “rational” the structures were, the tsunami flattened Tohoku coastline in seconds. The nuclear accident that followed further revealed the inability of “big and strong” architecture. In front of radiation, concrete or steel meant nothing, even though nuclear energy was a solution for our desire since the Lisbon tragedy, to become bigger, stronger, and more efficient. Now that such a process collapsed on itself, we have to start from scratch. Even before 3.11, I had already been fed up with massive concrete and steel buildings, and began to design a number of small works of architecture. You can build them on your own with nearby materials and be totally independent from strong powers – or rather, dependent solely on the nature. Now I sense that the whole world is shifting toward small things. We are no longer passive creatures who are spoon-fed from a giant yet unreliable system. Each individual starts to nest by him or herself and get energy on his or her own. A new relationship is being formed between people and the world. In the lecture I will discuss how I “minimize” architecture to help this transit.

TRIBUNA COAC: conferencia de Kengo Kuma

El miércoles 19 de noviembre se celebra una nueva edición del Tribuna COAC, que esta vez contará con la presencia del arquitecto japonés Kengo Kuma. La conferencia, titulada “After 3.11”, tendrá lugar en la sala de actos de plaça Nova, y cuenta con la colaboración del Smart City Expo World Congress. Kuma nos hablará* sobre cómo "minimiza" la arquitectura, especialmente desde el desastre natural del 2011 en Japón, con el objetivo de colaborar "en el tránsito del mundo hacia las pequeñas cosas".

Catalan architects, present at the Denkmal Restoration Fair

The Centre for Architectural Rehabilitation of Barcelona (OBRA) takes part in the 2014 Denkmal Fair for Conservation, Restoration and Old Building Renovation, held on November the 6th, 7th and 8th in Leipzig (Germany) and dedicated, this year, to historical facades.
The Architects's Association of Catalonia, an OBRA member, will be exhibiting the rehabilitation projects participating in the 'Mostra d’Arquitectura de Barcelona', along with the rehabilitation project for the facade of our headquarters, and the AADIPA European Prize for Intervention on Architectural Heritage.
The stand will also showcase the restoration of the Sant Pau Hospital in Barcelona and the restoration of Barcelona's Ciutat Vella.
Denkmal is the benchmark fair in the field of renovation and restoration of architectural heritage. The fair is experiencing a period of expansion, with strong influence in Central and Northern Europe, Eastern Europe and Russia.
