Audience with the President of the Catalan Government, Carles Puigdemont
On Wednesday, 13 April, in the Palau de la Generalitat, a meeting took place between the President of the Government, Carles Puigdemont, the Dean of the Architects' Association of Catalonia, Lluís Comeron, and the Secretary of the Governing Board, Assumpció Puig.
In this first meeting of the current legislature, the intention was to inform the president of the current situation of the architects’ collective, the impact of the property crisis and the current and future challenges we are facing, in respect of both the expansion of our professional roles and the redefinition of the part we need to play in society.
The meeting also covered the impact that the legislative framework and government action should have in terms of supporting recovery in the sector.
In this respect, the meeting also served to discuss with the President the main values of the future Catalan Architecture Act, which has just begun its passage through Parliament. The President agreed on the importance of having a regulatory framework which recognises the value of architecture and its role in society, as well as the work architects perform and the conditions in which they work.
